Digital Photo Frame Locket Necklace

We made a heart shaped locket necklace with a digital frame inside. the outside part is made of Wood with a gold color chain. When you open the locket you’ll see the digital photo frame in a heart shape and a slideshow of the images will begin.

For making this necklace we would first change some of the ideas we didn’t like or that were not practical from the prototype, after doing this we’ll measure the size of the necklace so that we can start cutting the pieces. Then we’ll have the digital drame designed in a way that it fills out the whole heart shape in one side but at the same side that the shape doesn’t cut any part of the image, after we have this done we will start attaching the wood  surface to the inside and outside part of the pendant. then we will put a metal thing so that you can open but  also to keep it close very firm.

The reason we chose to create a photo locket necklace is because we feel that for people who have had such great memories with their loved ones and now that even though they may be gone, they should still be remembered. By making a photo locket necklace, people can feel free to review all great memories they have have once shared any time they want.

Unarmored Body

Invading

With this drawing I wanted to think about suffering in an imaginary way. The pose of the human figure seems worried about something. In the back I wanted to assemble a cancer cell that it’s invading her. Even though the cancer cell is such a powerful and harmful thing at the same time it has beautiful shape and colors. The reason I made this drawing is because it’s related to how my family felt while my grandmother was at surgery.

Design Review

Prada

When we went to the Met and the Schiaparelli and Prada exhibition I saw a garment that I really liked. It was made by Prada. What I remember of the garment was a really staright cut, the silhouette was very simple. the color was the thing that made this piece very interesting because it had like gradient colors that went from a brown orange color to a much lighter mustard color in the middle. the length its about 5 fingers under the knee.
It had really thin vertical pleats and in the chest the colors made a heart shape and it had a thin belt in the waist.
I find this piece very successful becuase it looks very neat and the pleats are really thin so it doesn't look strong, the colors are perfect because the mix in a way that fit really good together.

Garment

The Solution

I made a garment out painted tracing paper, I first painted the tracing paper with a mix of blue I and white acrylics and then I crumpled the paper; I cut the tracing paper and started adhering the pieces, at the end I fashioned the dress with the flowers and the collar.

The purpose of my garment was to create a dress for my family while my grandmother was in surgery, to achieve this intention I had to think about how I felt in that moment and how was the family in that time. I chose that kind of blue because it’s a relaxing. The purpose of the flowers on the left side is to protect the heart, for this idea I got inspired by an armor I saw at the Met museum.

Imposible conversation

Gabrielle Chanel

I would love to have a conversation with Coco Chanel because of the way she designs and her I found her life inspiring in so many ways. when women were fighting for equality and the right to vote. she tried to express this new freedom was through appearance and dress. She changed the way women dressed in those times an by making more simple and comfortbale clothes. She made clothes inspired by what men used

Her work had influenced my work by using the same shapes and style. I am very inspired by the chanel suit because it never goes out of style and its something that would represent her style. I think she fhas a influence in my work by the way she simplifies everthing but at the same time it doesn't loses her elegance, thats a thing I always want to show in my work.

Her influence in my work manifests itself by adding a touch of personality and color to the work. I love working with light colors and whith textures.

Event Painting

The Light

This painting is a copy of a picture I took on central park, In this painting you can see that the trees are very dark and that some of the leafs are brighter than others. To make the painting I transferred the image to an illustration board with transfer paper. I started by painting the background, then the trees and finally all the details in the leaves using three different shades of green.
In this painting the horse represents strength, and I consider my grandmother a really strong person. She has always liked nature and in these trees the shadows could also represent a dark side of a situation, which in this case is the surgery she had. The bright background is an opening to a new opportunity of living.

Black & White

Fear

In this painting the sharpened triangle at the top pointing to the circle at the bottom represents fear of something bigger than you. First I started by tracing lines with a ruler and a pencil on bristol board. I taped the thin lines with artist tape and used matte medium in the borders. I painted the rest with ivory black acrylic paint with two layers.
The reason I chose fear is because is an abstract word and I wanted to think of a way to represent it.

My Event

My Event is about my grandmothers’ surgery. During this event the family experienced mixed feelings and emotions. She had surgery because she has cancer. At first she wasn’t going to have it but when things got complicated, it was necessary. When we were in the hospital the family was really worried and nervous but at the same time were all very supporting with each other and I think that that’s what makes a family. It is in times like this that you can realize that family is always going to be there.

I am really close to my grandmother, so I appreciate that everything went fine with the surgery. My event is reflected during all of my work in different ways.
